Comprehensive review of Chzzk: From viewing method to save settings, 17-hour rule, and backup

If you remember two things about rewatching Chzzk, you will avoid accidents. First, saving is not automatic, so only broadcasts with ‘Create Replay’ turned on remain. Second, even if it is turned on, only up to 17 hours are saved and any excess is provided in installments. This article goes through everything in order, from the path to viewing replays, save settings, file backup, and archiving of chat and Done records.

PC and mobile, where can I watch it?

When a broadcast ends, past broadcasts are accumulated in My Station. On PC, when you log in to Chzzk] and open the 'Replay' tab at the top of your station, a list will appear. On mobile, open the same screen in the Chzzk app in the order of My Channel → Replay. Management tasks such as changing visibility or modifying the title can be handled at Chzzk Studio.

When you find someone else's broadcast as a viewer, the path is the same. Just open the replay tab on your channel page. If you don't see your replay listed, the problem is most likely the settings in the next section.

Saving is not automatic: Turn on ‘Create Replay’ first

There are many streamers who look for a source to edit only to find out too late that the replay has already disappeared. The cause is usually simple. The broadcast was broadcast with the replay creation option turned off.

If you turn on replay creation in Chizijic Studio > Broadcast Management, subsequent broadcasts will be accumulated as VOD. Checking twice, once before broadcasting and again after broadcasting to ensure that the file was actually created, reduces accidents.

✅ Have you decided whether to post it on the channel immediately after the broadcast ends or keep it private?

✅ Does the transmitted image quality match the desired saved image quality (the transmitted image quality is the upper limit of the saved image quality)?

✅ Did you visually check that the VOD was actually created after the broadcast ended?

Up to 17 hours per side, length and storage rules

Czizyk September 2024 update increased the maximum replay length to 17 hours per episode. Broadcasts longer than that are provided separately, and the number of segments varies depending on the channel rating, so if the rating is low, the latter part of a very long broadcast may not be left. This means that a 10-hour broadcast will be preserved as a whole, but a 20-hour marathon broadcast will not be preserved as a single piece.

The storage period depends on the rating and number of viewers. Starting November 5, 2025, replays posted will be 30 days for rookies, 60 days for pros, and permanent for partners, and will be reduced to 7 days and 14 days for videos with fewer than 100 viewers, respectively. SOOP (Soop, formerly Afreeca TV) has changed its standards again from June 1, 2026. There is one key. The replays remaining on the platform are closer to ‘temporary storage’. If you want to keep it for a long time, you will eventually have to download the file manually.

To download the replay as a file

Here are just three things to know before receiving. Keeping the file as MP4 has the best editing and upload compatibility, and a broadcast lasting several hours can be as large as tens of GB, so make sure to free up storage space in advance. The image quality cannot exceed the resolution at the time of transmission. If it was broadcast in low quality, the download quality will be just that.

And no matter what tool you use, use it only to back up your own broadcast. Receiving and redistributing someone else's broadcast can lead to copyright and terms and conditions issues.

Just saving the video is half the story: chatting and leaving records

Any streamer who has edited it knows this. It's not the video that tells you where it happened, but the chat and Done's reaction. The section where chatting suddenly surged, the timing when cheese (Chzzk Done) or star balloons (SOOP Done) flocked, this is a candidate for highlight. However, if you only save the video, this reaction data is completely lost.

• Video VOD: Replay creation ON + Original backup with MP4 download
• Chat Log: Capture and save chat replays from the replay playback screen, or save text logs separately with the chat extraction tool.
• Done Record: Record the studio's sponsorship details and the Done notification screen recording during the broadcast, so that you can match the amount and timing.
• Unify the storage location into folders by broadcast date, so you can immediately find ‘that scene around what month, day, and time’ later.

Continue the saved replay with clips and shorts

Even though the backup was successful, it is common for the file to just sleep on the hard drive. It is difficult to watch a 10-hour VOD from beginning to end and find editing points every time. The purpose of storage is not storage but recycling, but most of the time it stops at storage.

There are two paths to follow. From errors to deletion, frequently asked situations

Situations where you get stuck while watching or saving a replay usually boil down to a few things.

One of the most frequently asked questions. Can I watch deleted replays again? In principle, replays once deleted or past the retention period cannot be recovered. So the only insurance for broadcasting to be edited is to save the original before it disappears. If the picture quality continues to be low, turning off automatic picture quality and switching to the original will usually resolve the issue, and playback errors are often resolved by deleting the cache or switching apps.
