Summary of Replay Storage Period: Chzzk and Forest, How to Calculate When My Broadcast Will Disappear

Replays are not files that are left behind, but files that disappear. Chzzk changed its storage standards from November 5, 2025, and SOOP changed its storage standards from June 1, 2026, and both times the period was shortened. This article transfers the standards written in the official documents of both platforms, and organizes the order of determining what to fix first by calculating how many days are left for your video. When will my replay eventually disappear?

Depending on the rating and conditions, it can be as short as 2 days or as long as forever. This means that the replay lifespan of two streamers using the same platform can differ by more than ten times.

Looking at the numbers alone, the forest appears to be ample, but the forest drastically reduced permanent storage in June 2026 and changed replays that were already uploaded retroactively to deletion. Chzzk has a short period of time, but the rules are simple. Either way, the default is "gone someday".

What exactly is the retention period for Chzzk replay?

Replays posted from November 5, 2025 will be stored permanently for 30 days for rookies, 60 days for pros, and forever for partners, and videos with less than 100 viewers will be stored for 7 days and 14 days, respectively. This is exactly what is shown in the storage date information table at Chizijic Customer Center.

The rookie period was increased from 7 days to 30 days, and the pro period remained the same at 60 days, but the shortened baseline was raised from 50 to 100. In the professional class where the channel is growing, there are broadcasts that are at a disadvantage due to the reorganization. A broadcast with 60 viewers had 60 days left as of the old standard, but as of now, it disappears in 14 days.

Here are two more rules that apply regardless of rank.

• 2 days for replays without posting: If you set to post after confirmation, the video will be made private, and will be deleted if you do not press publish within 2 days. If you try to check Friday's broadcast, the original will be gone after the weekend.
• Up to 17 hours per episode: Broadcasts longer than that are provided in 17-hour increments. The number of replays provided is unlimited for partners, 2 for pro and 2 for rookie, up to 34 hours.

What does 100 viewers count?

The official table only says "Videos with less than 100 viewers," and the document does not indicate whether it is the highest number of simultaneous connections or cumulative. If you fill in unconfirmed information with guesses, the calculation itself will be wrong, so it is safer to directly look at the viewer indicators for the broadcast in Czizyk Studio's statistics for the actual value.

In practice, it is sufficient to mark broadcasts near the baseline separately. For broadcasts that comfortably exceed 100 viewers, you can trust the basic rating period, and for ambiguous broadcasts, assume it is short and you will not lose anything by backing up first.

How has the SOOP replay storage period changed?

From June 1, 2026, permanent storage for regular streamers has disappeared, and the default period for best streamers has been changed to 2 years. The changes are summarized in a table in the SOOP Communication Center Notice.

There are three things that have changed.

• Permanent has been changed to a period of time: The requirement for 50 views for regular streamers has been reduced to 1 year instead of permanent, and the unconditional permanent storage for best streamers has been reduced to 2 years.
• The path to permanent storage through sponsorship has been blocked: The condition for permanent storage through sponsorship of 10 star balloons, ad balloons, or stickers has been eliminated. However, replays that were permanently stored before the enforcement date will be maintained.
• Applied to existing videos: The FAQ in the notice stated that the reorganization policy also applies to existing VODs. The deletion decision is recalculated based on the replay upload date.

The example in the notice illustrates this retroactive application. If a regular streamer's replay posted on June 1, 2024 was stored permanently with 50 views, the replay would be stored for one year based on the reorganization standard, so the storage period would be until June 1, 2025. Therefore, it became subject to deletion on June 1, 2026, the effective date. The older the video is, the more it disappears without delay.

It is also worth checking the applicable targets. This reorganization applies to live replays only, and clips, catches, and upload VODs will remain the same. What has been reduced is the one file that is created automatically after the broadcast.

What are the different standards for the two platforms?

Chzzk looks at the number of viewers at the time of broadcast, and Soop looks at the number of views in the replay. Although they look similar, the differences are diametrically different in how they respond.

The Cizizik criteria are confirmed the moment the broadcast ends. If there were 80 viewers that day, the storage period will not increase no matter how many times the replay is played later. On the other hand, Soop's standard is based on the pure views of the replay itself, so there is still room for the standard to be exceeded if clips circulate or are searched after the video is uploaded.

If you broadcast on two platforms simultaneously, you will need to calculate them separately. Even on the same broadcast, in most cases, Cizizik disappears first, and that side becomes the deadline for backup.

How do I calculate the expiration date of my video?

You can take the basic number of days based on the rating, determine the shortening based on whether the conditions are met, and then add it to the day the video was created. The calculation is simple as long as there is no confusion in that the standard is the video creation date and upload date, not the broadcast date.

1️⃣ Check your level: Check whether Czizyk is a Rookie, Pro, or Partner, and whether Sup is Normal, Best, or Partner. This is where the default storage days are set.

2️⃣ Shortened condition judgment: Chzzk checks whether the number of viewers of the broadcast exceeds 100, and Soop checks whether the number of pure views of the replay exceeds 50 or 1,000.

3️⃣ Add to the base date: Add the number of days obtained earlier to the video creation date for Chzzk and the replay upload date for Soop. If it's a Chzzk video that hasn't been posted, just add 2 days to the creation date and you're done.

4️⃣ Sort by remaining date: Sort the list by expiration date. As of today, the video with the fewest remaining days is ranked 1st for backup.

If it is cumbersome to do this calculation by hand every time, it is enough to make it a habit to write down the expiration date in the file name or memo after each broadcast. Just by looking at the list by date, you can immediately see what you need to do this week.

Is there any way to extend the storage period?

Increasing the channel rating is practically the only way for Cizizik, and for Soop, there is still a way to increase the number of views. However, neither of them will help with videos that are disappearing right now.

The important thing here is order. It takes months to build up ratings and views, but it only takes a few days for replays to disappear. Growing the channel in accordance with the policy and protecting the remaining videos must be handled separately.

What should I leave behind before I disappear?

If you try to get everything, you usually get nothing. It is more realistic to start with the shortest remaining period and to leave only the section to be used rather than the entire original.

✅ Spare space before and after the section where chatting and donations were concentrated

✅ Scenes that cannot be recreated (episodes that cannot be recreated, such as mergers, events, and first broadcasts)

✅ Recordings with separate audio tracks for editing

If the original capacity is a burden, it is better to change direction. Instead of storing the entire 6-hour broadcast, you can cut it into 10 usable sections, which saves a few tens of times the space and allows you to start editing later. How do I find out if the policy changes again?

Both platforms posted notices before implementation, but the grace period was not long. Soop posted a preliminary notice on April 15, 2026 and implemented it on June 1, so it was a month and a half, and Chzzk also applied it immediately after the prior notice.

Therefore, it is safer to set an inspection cycle. All you have to do is check the Chzzk announcements and the Forest Communication Center bulletin board about once a quarter and see if your grade and retention period have changed. As storage costs rise, platforms will continue to have reason to revisit their storage policies.

One thing remains regardless of policy. Files on my disk will not be affected by announcements on any platform. Is there a way to extend the storage period?

In fact, the only way to increase the channel rating is to increase the channel rating, and the viewer count conditions cannot be changed once the broadcast ends. Forest is based on replay views, so if the number of views accumulates even after the video is uploaded, the standard can be exceeded.
